The McDuffies’ garden in Montecito was redesigned to complement the house remodel by architect Don Nulty. The result is a relaxed yet formal garden scheme with an emphasis on outdoor living. There are small, intimate spaces as well as larger spaces to facilitate the occasional party. The landscape showcases a shady sitting area beneath a living arbor of pleached plane trees, a linear fountain lined with potted olives, rose gardens edged with boxwood, a potager, and fruit orchards. French garden antiques and Portuguese tile panels are featured throughout the garden spaces.
