The Roberts garden in Montecito was designed in the French Provencal style to complement the house designed by architect Bob Ray Offenhauser. Sydney divided the front yard into a series of separate garden rooms with strong visual connections. The front includes bold rose gardens, decomposed granite terraces, and an orchard of dwarf Citrus. Much like the front, the back yard was divided into separate gardens with outdoor living being the focus in each. There is a pool surrounded by lawn and framed at one end by a clipped Monterey Cypress hedge and Italian Cypress, a stone terrace shaded by Plane trees, a covered terrace with an outdoor fireplace, and a graveled area with Citrus trees planted in wooden Versailles boxes.
