Sydney's Garden
Sydney’s garden in Santa Barbara is perpetually changing, and the images presented on this page represent an earlier time in her garden’s evolution. Her garden is more or less a proving ground for her designs, and it’s where she tries and tests plants, plants combinations, and other materials specified in her designs. Sydney added to the original design of the garden by Ralph Stevens, iconic Santa Barbara landscape architect from the early 20th century. She expanded the garden to include an oval lawn punctuated with apple trees and surrounded by perennials with mixed textures, heights, and flower and foliage colors, a cutting garden with cut sandstone beds, a chicken house, and garden rooms waiting to be found and explored.
